It seems we have the first statements from the president following updated console sales figures and more in the latest financial results from Nintendo as well as the most successful games. The company has been known for launching some of the best Nintendo Switch games and now also Nintendo Switch 2 games, but we now have interesting sales data.

Once again, we have learned that the success has surprised even the top executives of Nintendo according to the second quarter financial results of 2026:

• Shuntaro Furukawa, president of Nintendo, has now stated that the launch far exceeded initial expectations.

There are regional differences, but in the West consoles are already available in stores. In Japan, the situation is improving, although it’s still not possible to buy one at any moment. Production is not the issue. Switch 2 has had an exceptionally good launch, even compared to previous video game consoles.
