It is scheduled for release on February 12, 2026 on Switch 2 and the prices, editions, and other details have already been announced.

Now we have new words about this launch. In an interview, Yokoyama Masayoshi, executive producer of the series and director of RGG Studio, shared that releasing a Yakuza title involves an exhaustive legal and ethical process, much more rigorous than a typical project. Due to the themes addressed by the franchise, the team must undergo between 10 to 20 times more legal reviews, ensuring that every detail—from a line of dialogue to a specific traffic sign—complies with cultural and censorship rules in all regions, which makes the global launch a complex and meticulous challenge:

Due to the subject matter, we undergo 10 to 20 times more legal and ethical checks compared to a typical project. We have to be careful with every aspect. Things that may seem acceptable for Japanese sensibilities could be completely banned in another country, even if it’s just a single word in the script or a specific traffic sign that seems taboo. We have to get all that approved before we can launch globally.
