Now we can confirm that these cards require an update before they can be used: a launch update that will be implemented in Switch 2. After connecting the console to the Internet and updating it we can use the cards:

256 GB of total system storage part of which is reserved for system data; expandable only via a MicroSD Express card (sold separately). A system update is required to use the microSD Express card.
