Nintendo explica cómo surgió la idea de crear Donkey Kong Bananza

The game has received new official statements. We’re talking about Donkey Kong Bananza which you already know will be released on July 17th. After learning everything shared in its Nintendo Direct, we now have more details about Nintendo Switch 2. This is very interesting information.
After its incredible Nintendo Direct and some extra details such as Pauline’s age, we have now learned more about its development. The producer of Donkey Kong Bananza, Kenta Motokura, revealed in an interview with IGN that the game was developed by the same team that created Super Mario Odyssey, but he denied that it originated as a DLC or sequel to that title.
Its origin, he explained, began when Nintendo executive Yoshiaki Koizumi asked the Odyssey team to work on a 3D game featuring Donkey Kong. Motokura consulted with Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Donkey Kong, who highlighted «the unique actions a character as strong as Donkey Kong can perform, such as hand slaps or blowing.» Additionally, Koizumi, former director of Jungle Beat, mentioned that «Donkey Kong has these long, strong arms» as a distinctive trait compared to Mario.

Meanwhile, a programmer from the team was experimenting with voxel technology, similar to pixels but in 3D, which allowed altering the game’s environment. This technology, combined with the character’s strength, shaped the gameplay centered on destruction that defines Bananza. Moreover, when Nintendo Switch 2 started to become a reality, the team realized «the best way to implement these ideas and technology would be in Nintendo Switch 2.»
Motokura concluded by saying:
When we realized the compatibility between Donkey Kong’s distinctive traits — being strong and having these long, powerful arms — and the potential of voxel technology, we saw it as a great combination that led us to focus on destruction as the core gameplay of this title.
Remember that we also had the chance to test it and you can find our impressions here. We also recently shared what people who have tested Mario Kart World think and its possible online features. There are also hints that it may include local multiplayer for Nintendo Switch 2.
