Resumen de la Summer Game Fest 2025

Resumen de la Summer Game Fest 2025

The PlayStation Blog team returned to Los Angeles to attend other days of summer game showcases. The team had one-on-one time with a diverse selection of upcoming PS5 games. Here are the highlights!

Crimson Desert | Coming Soon 2025

Publisher: Pearl Abyss | Developer: Pearl Abyss | PS5

Practical Report of Summer Game Fest 2025

Crimson Desert introduces a deep and complex melee combat system to its epic open-world. In combat, players can chain kicks, grapples, strong slashes, jump attacks, and more within a layered combat system that feels more like Soul Calibur than Dark Souls. The action is fast-paced and acrobatic, and it leans heavily on ferocity when infusing your strongest melee attacks with powerful elemental magic like ice and lightning. Alternatively, you can unleash a flame to trigger an incoming artillery attack that will annihilate waves of your melee opponents.

In general terms, I saw some familiar elements of the medieval fantasy open-world genre, such as summoning a horse to cover ground more quickly, liberating enemy fortresses, and epic boss battles. The open-world is massive, with Pearl Abyss claiming it will take over two hours to cross the game’s continent on horseback. If you enjoy open-world games and appreciate layered melee combat, this is one to watch.

Crucible: Theatre of Idols | Coming Soon 2025

Publisher: Blumhouse Games | Developer: Vermila Studios | PS5

Practical Report of Summer Game Fest 2025

Crucible: Theatre of Idols brings death to a new level, as you try to survive against impious animatronic horrors in the streets of a reimagined steampunk Spain, using your own blood as ammunition. Exploring the cursed corners of Stormy becomes an exercise in caution and stealth as each reload directly drains your life. Fortunately, protagonist Gabriel can also absorb blood from enemies and corpses found along the way, but it’s crucial to stay composed and shoot with purpose, a task not as easy as the moving statues of saints that push and shake the saints towards you. Successfully, I ended my gameplay segment with a single drop of blood left, ready to learn more about what this beautifully twisted world has in store for Gabriel.

Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 | Coming August 5th

Publisher: Sega | Developer: CyberConnect2 | PS5

Practical Report of Summer Game Fest 2025

With Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba The Movie: Infinity Castle coming in September and the anime’s success, Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 launches at a great time for fans of the series. The Hinokami Chronicles 2 follows the events of the Entertainment District, the Swordsmith Village, and the Hashira Training arcs with a deeper battle mechanic and cinematic pieces in the single-player mode. The new gear system allows players to customize each demon slayer with various skills and traits to reflect their playstyle, regardless of the slayer’s breathing style.

The Versus Mode feels like its own separate game rather than an optional multiplayer mode. The nine Hashira will be playable along with new high-ranking demons in its list of over 40 years of battles. The new assistance and combo system is on par with modern fighting game standards and something I can see some players focusing exclusively on.

Directive 8020 | Coming Soon October 2nd

Publisher: Supermassive Games | Developer: Supermassive Games | PS5

Practical Report of Summer Game Fest 2025

Supermassive Games has always understood that some of the best horror moments come from well-intentioned human decisions. Branching choices and butterfly effects have been the cornerstone of the Dark Pictures games, where horror tropes might seem familiar, but your actions and choices ultimately shape the scares and emotions. Directive 8020 sets a course for space and immediately establishes the tone that no one is safe. I played through a small campaign twice this weekend. In my session, the crew encountered cloned versions of themselves, which soon turned into reckless horrors.

The encounter triggered a chain of events, a conversation between the crew members, and ultimately a choice: can you trust everyone here, or is one of us a clone? The decision I made in the first game opened the door to new conversations and revealed secrets; the second game saw a more violent conclusion and a possibly closed branch. Fortunately, Supermassive has included the branching point system, a table of key decision moments that can change the story. While playing, you can access this table and go back to major decisions, allowing you to create your story over and over again.

FBC: FireBreak | Coming June 17th

Publisher: Remedy | Developer: Remedy | PS5

Practical Report of Summer Game Fest 2025

Fans of co-op shooters should take note of FBC: Firebreak, which launches in early June on PlayStation. Set in the paranormal control world, FireBreak pits players against hordes of interdimensional HISS invaders and a collection of disturbing new enemies while achieving mission goals that require cooperative teamwork. Each player selects an initial crisis kit, providing standard fire arms and grenade tools against explosive enemies, as well as a signature tool that can amplify teammates’ abilities. One of them, the effects of these tools are weak, but they stack, delivering impressive damage or manipulating the environment.

A mission tasked us with destroying sinister sticky notes covering the landscape. While one of my teammates soaked the notes with water explosions, I eliminated them with electric attacks to vaporize them quickly, saving time and ammunition. The battle spread through a large office complex as we held off the sticky notes, dodging enemies and eventually facing the big clash with Big Boss in Sticky Ricky. This is a shooter where you’ll constantly need to collaborate with your teammates’ attacks to succeed, and it feels satisfying when everything comes together. Post-launch content is free, with major post-launch updates planned for this fall and winter. FireBreak is a unique and chaotic take on the co-op genre; I’ll definitely be playing more of it.

Tombs of the Ascended | Coming Soon 2025

Publisher: Blumhouse Games | Developer: Perfect Trash | PS5

Practical Report of Summer Game Fest 2025

The cozy horror flourishes in Tombs of the Ascended, a narrative farming simulator with a terrifying twist in a serial killer series. As you harvest crops and build relationships with your neighbors (extremely attractive), the supernatural horrors soon paint your new town of Ashenridge Red, putting you on a path to uncover which Townsperson is behind the latest harvest of death. Every time you play, a random Townsperson is selected as the murderer, meaning this mystery can take new turns each session, and yes, the murderer is romantic. While I didn’t have time to see my carrot seeds fully mature, the clues I gathered from the first deadly encounter had me ready to start a new day and see how this mystery would grow.

Mixtape | Coming Soon 2025

Publisher: Annapurna Interactive | Developer: Beethoven & Dinosaur | PS5

Practical Report of Summer Game Fest 2025

Annapurna’s Mixtape understands that music is more than just notes and sounds—it’s a force that can color and shape memories, relationships, and dreams. No one knows this better than the fourth-wall-breaking protagonist Stacy Rockford, who has created the perfect playlist for a final high school adventure with her friends. Whether you were skating along the scenic Pacific coast roads to Devo, or Stacy navigating the rhythm between tricks, the head-banging memories of midnight trips to Silverchair, or even recreating a notoriously detailed first kiss (some songs might be ruined by a memory after all…), Beethoven & Dinosaur have crafted a visual and sonic experience that I’m ready to press play on.

Shinobi: Art of Vengeance | Coming Soon August 29th

Publisher: Sega | Developer: Sega, LizardCube | PS5

Practical Report of Summer Game Fest 2025

The Shinobi franchise returns with Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, a stylish action game. This latest entry sees Joe Musashi clash with Evil Ene Corp, which aims to take over the world and destroy the Musashi clan. Along with the beautiful art, the game focuses on exploring and stepping back once new skills and Ninpo techniques are acquired to take on your enemies.

The fluid movement works well while exploring with your ninja tools and discovering new paths and secrets that fit well with a profession that does its best work in the shadows. The combat was fun and fast-paced, with finishers and special items to mix things up or escape tight situations. While the on-the-go skirmishes were manageable, the boss battle required precision and little room for error. The new Joe adventure successfully expands on the original’s feel while mixing genres and modern elements.

Sonic Racing: Crossworlds | Coming Soon September 25th

Publisher: Sega | Developer: Sonic Team | PS5

Practical Report of Summer Game Fest 2025

Sonic Racing: Crossworlds is a part of the Sega Mascot Racer lineup and a celebration of Sonic’s long history in games. Factor in the inclusion of characters like Hatsune Miku, Ichiban Kasuga, as well as the new world warping mechanic mid-race, and you have a promising tour de force. In each race, you have a random opponent among the racers. The consistent jokes as the race progresses and the different situations that arise set it apart from other games in the genre. It made each race feel unique and made me want to see the interactions between characters that, under normal circumstances, would never cross paths.

The world warping mechanic allows the main racer to dictate where the mid-race turn takes place, and while I initially thought it was purely cosmetic, it’s actually very strategic. Since these destinations can focus on racing, navigating, or flying, you can choose a path that plays to your strengths or horribly hinder your opponents if you know what they’re equipped with. While the game is clearly for fans, its racing mechanics are the real draw.
